Humber Bridge

The Humber Bridge between Hessle and Barton-upon-Humber uses camera-based tolling (operated by the Humber Bridge Board). You can pay online or set up a Humber Bridge Toll Account that's charged automatically.

It's the familiar pay-later trap: if you don't pay by the deadline, an Unpaid Toll Notice is issued with an admin fee on top — and it escalates from there.

Pay-as-you-go

£2.00 / crossing

£1.50 on Auto Pay

Fine if you forget

£25.00

Pay-by deadline

By midnight the day after you cross. Miss it and an Unpaid Toll Notice (with a £25 admin fee) is issued the following day.

£2.00 per crossing for a car (2-axle vehicle under 3.5 tonnes) paying as a one-off, or £1.50 on a registered Humber Bridge account. Motorbikes and trikes cross free. Larger vehicles pay more (£5.00 for 3.5–7t, £15.00 for 3+ axles / over 7.5t). Pay by midnight the day after crossing.

When you're charged: with Snaptoll you're covered the moment you cross — the charge then reaches your card up to 3 days, because the operator bills us in arrears. A short delay before it appears is completely normal.

How to pay it yourself

  1. 1Go to the official Humber Bridge tolls website.
  2. 2Pay your crossing online, or by phone.
  3. 3Pay the toll (£2.00 for a standard car, or £1.50 on a registered Humber Bridge account; motorbikes cross free).
  4. 4Or open a Humber Bridge Toll Account — or let Snaptoll keep your crossings covered automatically.

What happens if you don't pay

An Unpaid Toll Notice adds a £25 admin fee, rising to a £50 Violation Charge, then a Final Reminder, then debt recovery (a further £75) if it stays unpaid.
