Terms of Service
Last updated: 18 July 2026
1. Who we are
Snaptoll is a service operated by Dephre Ltd, a company registered in England & Wales (company number 17297698) with its registered office at 802 Centurion Tower, 5 Caxton Street North, London E16 1XJ (“we”, “us”). By creating an account you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service. Questions: support@snaptoll.com or our contact form.
2. What the service does
Snaptoll helps you pay applicable UK road user charges, tolls and vehicle access charges (such as the London Congestion Charge, ULEZ, the Dartford Crossing, the M6 Toll, the Blackwall & Silvertown tunnels, and airport terminal drop-off charges) for the vehicle(s) you register with us, so that you avoid late-payment penalty charge notices. Some of these are statutory road charges; others (such as airport drop-off charges) are charges applied by a private operator under its own terms — we treat both the same way. We pay the relevant operator on your behalf and then charge you for that payment plus our service fee. We act as your agent for the purpose of making these payments; we are not a toll operator, a bank, or an enforcement authority. The current list of charges we cover is shown in the app; where a charge is not covered (or a specific charge is switched off for a vehicle), paying it remains your responsibility.
3. Your responsibilities
- Give accurate information, including a correct vehicle registration mark, and keep it up to date.
- Confirm you have the right to register each vehicle. You represent and warrant that, for every vehicle you add, you are its registered keeper, or you have the registered keeper's permission to register it for automatic payment of road charges. You must not register a vehicle you do not have this right to register.
- If you are not the registered keeper, you remain responsible for making the keeper aware they stay liable to the relevant authority.
- We may ask you to evidence the keeper's permission at any time. If you cannot reasonably evidence it, we may remove the vehicle from the service.
- You agree to reimburse us for any charge, penalty, loss, or account action we suffer because you registered a vehicle without having the right to do so.
- Keep a valid payment method on file with sufficient funds to settle charges and our fees.
- Tell us promptly when a vehicle should no longer be covered — for example at the end of a rental, or if you sell or otherwise dispose of it or stop being its keeper. This lets us remove it as soon as possible and limit the charges that can accrue to you (see section 6).
4. Fees and payment
You pay the actual toll or charge (passed through at cost) plus our convenience fee, which is shown to you before you are charged. We only charge you a toll or charge when the relevant operator charges us for your vehicle. Our convenience fee is payment-method agnostic and is not a card surcharge. We may batch multiple charges into a single payment. If a payment fails, we may be unable to pay a charge on your behalf, which may result in a penalty for which you remain responsible.
5. Nature of the service & liability
We use reasonable care and skill to pay charges on time, but the service depends on accurate information from you, the availability of operator systems, and successful payment from your method on file. We do not guarantee that a charge will always be paid in time in every circumstance. To the extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount of the charge concerned plus the fees you paid us in relation to it. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, and these Terms do not affect your statutory rights as a consumer.
Our penalty promise. If a penalty charge notice is issued because we failed to register your vehicle or pay a charge we should have paid — even though you met your responsibilities under section 3 (accurate details, a valid payment method with sufficient funds, and the vehicle showing as protected for that charge at the time) — we will reimburse that penalty. To claim, send us the notice promptly (within 14 days of receiving it) via the contact form so it can still be settled at the reduced early-payment rate; if a delay in telling us increases the penalty, we reimburse the amount that would have applied with prompt notice. This promise does not apply where the penalty results from your own act or omission — for example an inaccurate registration mark, no valid payment method, a charge or vehicle you had switched off or removed, or a vehicle covered by another operator account outside our control.
6. Removing a vehicle & the cover window
You can deactivate or remove a vehicle, or close your account, at any time. Charges and fees already incurred (for crossings made while your vehicle was covered) remain payable.
Because road-charge operators can bill a registered vehicle for some time after a crossing, we keep a vehicle registered on our payment accounts for a short cover window after you remove or deactivate it — until the operator's payment deadline for crossings made while you were covered — so that your final crossings are still paid and you avoid a penalty. We tell you the date and time this window ends when you remove the vehicle.
You remain responsible for, and authorise us to charge you for, the toll or charge for every crossing made by that vehicle until the cover window closes — regardless of who is then keeping or driving it (for example, a new owner after you have sold it). This is why it is important to tell us promptly when you sell or dispose of a vehicle: the sooner you do, the sooner we can remove it and the fewer such charges can arise. You can also reactivate a vehicle at any time before its cover window closes.
You can also switch an individual charge (for example one toll or one airport) on or off for a vehicle without removing the vehicle. The same rules apply per charge: switching one off ends our responsibility for it from that point (after any applicable cover window), and paying that charge becomes your responsibility again.
7. Disputes, refunds & complaints
Because operators charge our account (not yours directly), any query about a charge needs to come through us — please raise it within 30 days of the charge appearing in your account, via the contact form or support@snaptoll.com. Operators give us a limited window to dispute a charge with them, so a query raised late may be impossible to recover.
- If we billed you in error (for example a charge that was not for your vehicle), we refund our fee and the amount concerned.
- If the operator's charge was wrong (for example a misread number plate), we raise the dispute with the operator on your behalf. We may refund you first and recover from the operator ourselves.
- Correctly-incurred charges we paid on your behalf are not refundable — the crossing happened and the operator was paid.
Complaints: we reply within 5 business days and aim to resolve within 10 business days; complex cases receive a final response within 8 weeks at the latest. If you remain unhappy, you can seek independent advice from Citizens Advice, and nothing in these Terms limits your right to bring a claim.
8. Suspension & termination
We may suspend or close your account, or remove a vehicle from it, if: you materially breach these Terms; we reasonably suspect fraud or misuse of the service; a keeper-permission warranty proves untrue; amounts you owe us remain unpaid after a reminder; or you initiate a card dispute for an amount that was correctly charged under these Terms. Where reasonable we will warn you first and give you the chance to put things right. On suspension or closure we deregister your vehicles from the operator accounts (the section 6 cover window applies), and any amounts already owed remain payable. You can close your account yourself at any time from the dashboard.
9. Your data
How we handle your personal data is described in our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy.
10. Changes & governing law
We may update these Terms; we will tell you about material changes and record the version you accept. These Terms are governed by the law of England & Wales, and the courts of England & Wales have jurisdiction.
This is a pre-launch draft of our customer terms and is subject to final legal review before Snaptoll begins processing tolls and payments.
