Who we are
Snaptoll is a service operated by Dephre Ltd, a company registered in England & Wales (company number 17297698), with its registered office at 802 Centurion Tower, 5 Caxton Street North, London E16 1XJ. Dephre Ltd is the data controller for the personal data described here. For any privacy question, contact us at support@snaptoll.com.
What we collect
- Account details — your name, email address and a securely hashed password.
- Vehicle details — the number plate(s) you ask us to cover, together with vehicle information (such as make, model, colour, and tax/MOT status) we look up from the DVLA to register the vehicle correctly.
- Payment details — your card or Direct Debit is collected and processed by our payment provider, Stripe. We do not store your full card number; we keep limited information such as the card type and last four digits to show you which method is on file.
- Charge & usage data — the road charges and tolls incurred by your vehicles, the payments we make and collect, and a record of when each vehicle was covered on each operator.
- Support & technical data — messages you send us, and basic technical information (such as logs) needed to run and secure the service. Cookies are described in our Cookie Policy.
Why we use it & our lawful basis
- To provide the service — registering your plate with the relevant operators, paying your tolls and charges, and billing you — on the basis of performing our contract with you.
- To keep the service accurate and secure — vehicle look-ups, keeping operator accounts up to date, preventing fraud and misuse — on the basis of our legitimate interests in running a reliable service.
- To meet legal and accounting obligations — keeping records of payments and charges — on the basis of compliance with a legal obligation.
- To send you launch or marketing updates, where applicable — on the basis of your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
Who we share it with
We never sell your personal data. We share it only with the providers needed to deliver the service: the road-charge operators (such as Dart Charge, TfL and airport operators) on whose accounts we register your plate; Stripe for payments; Resend for emails; and our hosting and database providers. We also use the DVLA vehicle-enquiry service to verify vehicle details. Each of these processes your data only as needed to provide their part of the service.
Where your data is stored
Your data is stored securely with our infrastructure providers within the European Union (Ireland). Where any provider processes data outside the UK or EU, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or equivalent).
How long we keep it
We keep your personal data for as long as you have an account. When you delete your account we remove your vehicles from the operators straight away and erase your personal data after a short holding period (currently 14 days, during which you can restore the account). We keep de-identified records of charges and payments after that only where we need them to meet legal and accounting obligations, and delete them once that need ends.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data, to receive a copy of it, to restrict or object to its use, and to withdraw consent where we rely on it. To exercise any of these, email support@snaptoll.com. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
